The programme will include the following proceedings:

  • A parent education talk (Topic: Exposing the Myths of Play) in English to be delivered by a speaker from the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK).


    "Children need toys to play.” “Children play only when they have free time.” “Play is not educational.” There are simply many myths about play. In fact, play is being recognized as one of the most important aspects of children’s life as children learn and grow through engaging in different types of play. Through exposing the myths of play, the participants get to understand the concept of play and recognize the importance of learning through play in children’s live. By participating in on-site demonstration, the participants will also acquire practical skills and tips when promoting learning through play at home. They will learn how to utilize home environment, to allow children to make decisions, to eliminate limitations, to make use of loose parts found at home and to be children’s enthusiastic playmates.

  • A sharing session to be conducted by an NCS speaker to share his experience in learning Chinese and adapting to local school life.
  • Activities and game booths to be arranged for NCS parents and children

  • The talk will be cancelled without prior notice when Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above or Black Rainstorm Warning Signal issued by the Hong Kong Observatory is still in force at 8:30 a.m..
  • The talk will be cancelled without prior notice when Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal Pre-No. 8 is issued before 10:30 a.m..
  • If the venue of the talk needs to be urgently and temporarily closed (e.g. for cleaning to prevent the spread of influenza), the talk will also be cancelled without prior notice. Talk cancelled will be rescheduled subject to mutual agreement between the Centre and the EDB.
  • Please wear a mask to attend the talk and observe relevant precautionary measures for prevention of Coronavirus disease.
